Educational Insights Sneaky Snacky Squirrel Game for Kids

Finding a game to introduce to a 3 year old can be difficult. I have been there and will be there with my nephew. When my girls were little, I wanted to introduce them to games as a way of exploring and taking turns with other kids. This game not only fun for really young children, but it has an added hand eye coordination component.

Game Play

After the children select their stumps, spin the spinner and do the task using the squirrel. No hands and fingers allowed.

As simple as this may seem, well you never know what game changer might happen. For example on one turn you might get two bonus acorns of your choosing but a fellow player might turn into the sneaky snacky squirrel and take one of your acorns. Not much of a game changer? watch out for the wind. You may find an empty stump right when you were about to win.

The Sneaky Snacky Squirrel

For a first game, Sneaky Snacky Squirrel Game has it all. From the very detailed pieces to the taking turns and color matching. The kids have so much fun and the squirrel just makes them want to play. He is so cute and easy to hold. Getting the coordination to pick up and place the acorns is a skill that kids just have fun leaning as they are platting this game. It was a gift for my 7 year old when she was younger and now my 2 year old nephew wants to join in the fun.

Pros/Skills:

  • Hand eye coordination
  • Fine motor skills
  • Color matching
  • Taking turns
  • Cute pieces
  • Great first game
  • Well made

Cons:

  • With the squirrel and acorns made of a heavy duty material, I was sad the stumps are only cardboard. This game has lasted a few years already and is already showing some signs of wear. The stumps will not be around much longer.

Bottom Line:

Sneaky Snacky Squirrel Game was used well when my 7 year old was younger. My nephew who is almost 3 keeps asking to play and recently we let him have a go. Although his coordination was not developed enough to play, he loved the idea of using the squirrel. This alone gave him the motivation to try a few more times. Any game that can keep an almost 3 year old interested and focused is more then enough for me.
