A Better Way to Get Immediate Medical Care

In the past, if you needed medical care quickly, you could call 911 for a paramedic, or if the need was less critical, you could go to a walk-in emergency room. This latter option has been the only choice for many people, but there has been one big problem. You may end up waiting hours to see a doctor. Walk-in emergency rooms have become crowded, and the level of care has become questionable as well. Today, all of this is changing with urgent care facilities.
An urgent care facility is sometimes owned by a local hospital, but it can also be owned and operated independently of a hospital. In either case, the doctors working at an urgent care facility are board certified. There is seldom any backlog of patients, so waiting times are minimal, if the exist at all. Anyone who cannot wait to make an appointment with a doctor but is not in so urgent of need that they require an ambulance can now go to an urgent care facility.
These facilities will accept all major forms of insurance, and for those without insurance, their fees are usually lower than the walk-in emergency room of the local hospital. In fact, it is a good idea to use an urgent care facility before a hospital. It will save you money. One example of this type of urgent care facility is the Urgency Room. A nearby location can be found under the Urgent Care Near Me portion of the website.

I see from the other reviewers that they heap praise on this textbook, but it is probably one of the most lacking, poorly written textbooks I have ever used. Although required to use it for the course I am taking, I found it a terrible slog. The writing is not at the 7th grade level, but maybe at the 7-year old level. There are spelling errors throughout, the syntax is atrocious, the sentence structure is halting and ripe with grammatical errors. The objectives for each chapter are cursory and do little to prepare you to learn anything. The tests provided with the teachers package are more about bait-and-switch, "gotcha," and answer distractors that are muddy and meant more to trick than to effect any real learning - they certainly are not connected in any way to the objectives or any real learning goals. Obscure would best describe the crop of questions I have experienced.
I hope that there are other textbooks offered that can be used for Nursing Assistant training and preparation. The publisher, editor, and all those people listed at the beginning of the book (many with PhDs and other advanced degrees, and - believe it or not - many who are professors) obviously care little about the book being used as an effective training tool or are totally incapable of producing anything of much academic worth. I think there is a great need for someone with course development skills and education to take hold of this book in order to review and revise the entire thing.
I do not recommend this book for anything connected with academics. It might be useful for a leisurely scan, but that is the limit of my recommendation for reading.

Review
Care at a distance eloquently combines theories from various disciplines with detailed empirical analyses of telecare practices - also relevant for non-academic actors in the field. -- Hans Harbers, is philosopher of science, technology and society and author of Inside the Politics of Technology (AUP).[-] - "Polss exciting new book provides important insights into how innovative telecare practices are achieved in everyday practice and how uncontrolled field studies can be used both to understand and improve care practices." -- Flis Henwood, Professor of Social Informatics in the School of Applied Social Science, University of Brighton, UK She has published widely on e-health discourse, the internet and the informed patient. - "Jeannette Pols has written a timely and thought-provoking book about what happens when technologies are used to provide healthcare at a distance. By listening to the experiences of those who use the technologies, as healthcare providers or as patients, Pols provides a much-needed balance to the usual focus on efficiency." -- Sally Wyatt, Director of the Netherlands Graduate School of Science,Technology and Modern Culture - "Care at a Distance lays out a variety of ways in which long distance health care may work. Written attentively and with a real sense of engagement, it also offers long distance care. Intellectual care this time. For you, the captivated reader." -- Annemarie Mol, professor of Anthropology of the Body at the University of Amsterdam; author of Ziek is het woord niet; The Body Multiple and The Logic of Care
